Interactive Notebooks weren't as "huge" a few years ago when I taught so I didn't have to fit that piece in. We used math journals but mostly to do practice problems during the mini lesson and then during share time. Basically instead of doing a practice problems on the board or individual white boards they would do it in their journals so I could check them later if needed. Email me if I can help you at all sarajcreations@gmail.com Have a great trip!Sara J Creationshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14957841383296995334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4782454430857670555.post-56239940076184730042014-11-04T05:42:56.747-08:002014-11-04T05:42:56.747-08:00Wow! I am really only worried about the journal / independent part being with kindergarten. I do math centers know and know that my kiddos will be able to handle the games and activities. I want to make sure they are able to be independent during the rest since they are not reading yet.

Thank you so much!!

Kristen :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05230228949993047801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4782454430857670555.post-1989587706376537532014-11-03T07:51:10.377-08:002014-11-03T07:51:10.377-08:00I went to Disney for my anniversary in March. My husband and I had never been and we have no kids so it was actually kind of relaxing because we weren't being pulled in a zillion different directions.

I hear ya on the lesson plans. I try to be ready and have things prepped for the week but it doesn't always happen.Jessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04470578837931894724noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4782454430857670555.post-38656148112515456752014-11-03T07:16:15.114-08:002014-11-03T07:16:15.114-08:00Hi Kristen,
Have fun in Disney and on your week ...Hi Kristen,
Have fun in Disney and on your week off! That has to be so nice this time of year. This was always the hardest stretch for us in Michigan - we just had to make it to Thanksgiving and we'd have a few days off. A week in the fall would be perfect!!

Good luck with your investigation of Guided Math. When I first started math workshop in 2nd grade, there were very few resources. I read Guided Math by Laney Sammons and Math Work Stations by Debbie Diller. Those both helped. Then we tried out our own format and adjusted before we settled on one we liked. We did it 3 days a week and had 6 rotations a week. It just seemed to work for us. Let me know if I can help. I blogged about it here: http://sarajcreations.blogspot.com/2014/07/math-workshop-where-do-i-start.html

Sara
Sara J Creations

Sara J Creationshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14957841383296995334noreply@blogger.com
